Parents warned of ‘scheduled’ fights at Richmond high school

A letter went out to parents of students at South Carleton Secondary School this week warning of a rash of 'one-on-one' physical fights that are taking place during the lunch hour.
These fights that are being 'scheduled' have been stopped by the administration in some cases but in other cases, they are happening off the property during the lunch hour.
School staff explained that the combatants said the fights were 'agreed upon' and it has them very concerned as they are also organizing the events and sharing details to get a bigger crowd.
Students attending these fights have been recording them and posting them on social media.
The school's administration is asking parents to talk to their children and explain that someone cannot 'agree' to be injured, and that there could be charges laid if someone is hurt.
For those just attending, there could be penalties for witnessing and recording the incident without reporting it.
The letter also asks that anyone with information about these incident come forward.
While they said it is a small group, the school would like to see an end to these incidents.
