First ever inter-provincial zipline set to open next year over Ottawa River

By CityNews Ottawa

Anyone can now secure a spot to take a ride on the world's first inter-provincial zipline, as Interzip Rogers is set to open by the summer of 2021 on the Zibi site.

The zipline site, located on Chaudière Island, features an approximately 125 feet launch tower, which provides a view from of the Ottawa River and surrounding areas. Participants will then zip down roughly 1,400 feet into Quebec.

Leaders in the region's tourism industry have expressed support for the zipline.

“The opening of the world's first inter-provincial zip line in the National Capital Region is excellent news for 2021, “Ottawa Tourism President and CEO Michael Crockatt explained. “We are convinced that this unique and thrilling experience will give a helping hand to our merchants, restaurateurs, hoteliers and other tourism businesses.”

The activity is by appointment only, and an 'early bird special' is currently underway on Interzip's website.

Zipliners will book a specific time slot, enabling the organizers to control the influx of participants at all times, per public health rules.
