Ottawa man facing drug charges after traffic stop in Kemptville

An Ottawa man is facing three charges after provincial police seized drugs during a traffic stop in Kemptville.

Around 4:50 p.m. on Friday, July 2, the Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report that a vehicle was weaving on the roadway, almost causing a collision on County Road 43, entering Kemptville.

Officers located and stopped the vehicle on County Road 43 and after speaking with the driver, started an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of the investigation, officers also seized a large quantity of cannabis and more than $6,000 in cash.

Omar Omar, 24, faces the following charges:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing

The accused was released with a court date in Brockville on July 30, 2021.
