Special air quality advisory issued for southern Ontario due to wildfire smoke

Environment Canada has issued special air quality advisories for southern Ontario and some regions of southern Quebec due to smoke which it says has blown in from wildfires burning in Ontario’s northwest.
The advisories were issued late Monday afternoon and include the cities of Ottawa and Toronto and they warn that smoke is causing poor air quality and is reducing visibility.
The advisories for southern Ontario further warn that high levels of air pollution due to smoke are possible.
A smog warning due to the fires was also issued Monday afternoon for Montreal.
Environment Canada says conditions are expected to improve Tuesday with the passage of a cold front.
It says people may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches, or shortness of breath.

Conditions are expected to improve throughout the day Tuesday with showers and thunderstorms clearing the air.
