Flying ice on Hwy 417 injures one, causes partial road closure

Ottawa paramedics are reminding everyone to clear the snow and ice off of their vehicles before heading onto local roadways after a scary incident on Highway 417.

Around 1:40 p.m., Thursday, December 9, a chunk of ice flew off of a vehicle on the highway at Kent Street and smashed into another vehicle's windshield.

A woman in her 40s suffered serious head injuries in the incident.

Police had to close a couple lanes of the highway, but those have since reopened.
