Police arrest suspect wanted in Alta Vista shooting homicide last May

Ottawa police have arrested a suspect in connection with a double homicide that took place in the city’s east end in May 2021.

The police’s homicide unit arrested Abdullahi Osman, Ottawa Police Services (OPS) said in a release Sunday, February 13.

Osman was one of three suspects wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder related to the shooting homicide of two men on May 28, 2021 at the Alta Vista Shopping Centre.

Osman was arrested in Peel before being returned to Ottawa.

Brothers Abdulaziz Abdullah and Mohamed Abdullah were killed on May 28, 2021. A third man was wounded in the shooting. 

Police did not provide an update on the other two suspects wanted in connection with the double murder: Ahmed Siyad and Mohamed Shire.

Peel Police Service, Toronto Police Service, OPP, RCMP and the Canadian Border Services Agency assisted in the investigation and arrest of Osman.
