By Alex Black

One woman has been seriously injured after a chunk of ice came loose from a passing truck and struck her vehicle.

MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais say a woman was driving on Highway 148 during the evening of Monday, February 28, when the ice smashed through her windshield.

The woman, who police say is in her 50's, managed to pull her vehicle over and call for help.

She was taken to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening facial injuries.

Police are reminding motorists that it is the law in both Quebec and Ontario to make sure your vehicle is clear of any snow or ice that could come loose while driving.
