With 89 staff members at the Montfort Hospital in isolation due to COVID infections, the east-end hospital said it has been forced to postpone some non-emergent and non-urgent activities.
The news was confirmed in an announcement on the hospital’s website on Thursday, April 14, adding that such procedures will be put on hold until further notice starting on Tuesday, April 19.
“This is never an easy decision to make, and we take it with a clear understanding of the impact on our teams, our patients, and their families,” the hospital said in its statement.
“The teams involved are currently reviewing, on a case-by-case basis, what can go ahead and what needs to be postponed. Our goal remains to continue to provide essential care and services that are safe and of the highest quality.”
Patients and clients whose appointments are rescheduled will be contacted by phone, either by their doctor or by a member of the Montfort team.
For others, the hospital is operating as usual.
