One person arrested after altercation with officer

The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested one person after responding to a trespass call on May 3, 2022. 

Shortly after 9:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of someone trespassing and attempting to steal a vehicle on County Road 17 in the community of Clarence-Rockland.

The suspect was located shortly after, and a physical altercation took place with the arresting officer.

As a result of the investigation, Joey Lapensee, 34, from Rockland, was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with intent to resist arrest 
  • Trespassing at night 
  • Two counts of failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada 
  • Disarming a peace officer

The accused was held for bail.
