Graffiti at skatepark in Pembroke leads to consequences for two teens

Two youths are facing charges in connection with mischief in Pembroke over the weekend. 

Officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police were on patrol around 3:20 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, when they encountered the youths spray painting graffiti at the Pembroke Skate Park.

As a result of this incident, one 15-year-old youth from Pembroke was cautioned under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) and taken home to their parents. 

A second youth, a 16-year-old from Allumette Island, Quebec, was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order. 

The 16-year-old was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released to attend Youth Court in Pembroke on Sept. 29, 2022.

The names of the youths cannot be released under the provisions of the YCJA.
