Ottawa Mission’s Christmas dinner returns this weekend
The Ottawa Mission's Christmas dinner is making its return in person for the first time since 2019.
The dinner is taking place on Sunday, Dec. 18 in the dining hall of the Ottawa Mission, which is located at 35 Waller Street in downtown Ottawa.
“Our whole team is excited,” said Peter Tilley, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Ottawa Mission on Wake Up With Rob Snow on Dec. 16. “This is our first Christmas dinner since the pandemic began and we know that Chef Ric prepares the best Christmas dinner in town.”

Tilley said many Ottawa city councillors will be on hand to help serve meals, as well as Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe and new police chief Eric Stubbs.
Due to an increase in hunger in the community, the Ottawa Mission expects to serve over 14,000 meals this holiday season through its dinner and food truck program delivering full Christmas meals across the city.
“It will take about 6,500 pounds of turkey or 650 ten-pound turkeys to feed everyone who comes to our special Christmas dinner,” stated chef Ric Watson, director of food services at The Mission.
