An evening of laughs, friends and food is set to take place at Beau’s Brewery in Vankleek Hill this Friday evening, with funds going towards maintenance of the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail.
Eric Collard, executive director of the Prescott Russell Recreational Trail, told The Sam Laprade Show, the trail is a hidden gem in Ottawa’s east end – used by cyclists, runners and those out for walks during the summer months.
During the winter months, the trail supports snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, he added.
“It touches Ottawa in the east end, just past Navan, and goes all the way to the Quebec Border near Rigault,” he said. “It’s a 72 km multi-purpose trail.”
He goes on to explain, this Friday’s comedy night is intended to benefit the ‘beautiful trail’, combining Collard’s love of nature and comedy.
Dan Allaire is set to headline the event, featuring other comedy acts including Lisa Rae, Nicky Bobby, and CityNews’ very own Sam Laprade.
“The event is about getting people out, making them laugh and raising a few dollars for the trail,” explained Collard. “We approached our good friends at Beau’s Brewery in Vankleek Hill and they were on board (host location).”
Collard told listeners while tickets will not be available at the door, they can be purchased on their website or via the QR code included on the event poster.
“Beaus is graciously donating all ticket proceeds to the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail,” he explained. “We’re looking forward to seeing everyone – having a laugh with someone in the same room is just magical and that’s what i’m looking forward to.”
