Gatineau police believe suspects fired at wrong targets at home in in Hull-Wright district

It looks like a recent shooting in Gatineau targeted the wrong people.

The Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) said shots were fired at a home located at 94 rue Saint-Hyacinthe, in the Hull-Wright district, around midnight on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Several bullets were fired into the home where a family with young children had been living for just a few months, and the SPVG said, the family has no links to the criminal world.

However, before the family moved in, two men known to police resided there.

Those two men, brothers in their forties and fifties, were also the targets of gunfire last week on Eddy Street in the Hull sector. Shots were fired into a vehicle they were inside around 4:45 p.m. on Monday Nov. 27.

One person was quickly arrested in that incident, Domenic James Edward Fortune, after he was located in a vehicle on Leduc Street shortly after the shooting. Fortune faces several charges, including attempted murder, and remains in prison.

Gatineau police said there is reason to believe that the shots fired on rue Saint-Hyacinthe are linked to this attempted murder.

The family has since been relocated for safety reasons and there are no injuries reported.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact the SPVG at 819-243-4636, option 5.
