Suspect charged in connection to a string of break-and-enters in Centretown

The Ottawa Police Service Break and Enter Unit has charged 59-year-old Derek Gray following an investigation into multiple break-and-enters in Centretown dating back to August.

Police report at least four houses have been broken into since August where the targeted jewelry, electronics and currency. Police identified the suspect and arrested him following the execution of a search warrant Thursday. Further evidence was located in Gray’s home, including some of the stolen items.

The Ottawa resident is being charged with:

  • Four counts of breaking and entering (residential)
  • Four counts of mischief under $5000
  • Possession of break and enter instruments

Gray remains in custody as the investigation continues.
