The OPP-led Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of an Ottawa man awaiting sentencing for firearms trafficking.
A release from Ottawa Police Services said Kyanoush Rezaei, 33, cut off his ankle monitor and failed to appear for sentencing..
OPS describes Rezaei as a middle Eastern man, 5’9”, and approximately 215 lbs, with long wavy dark hair.
Rezaei was released recently and is awaiting sentence for firearms trafficking across the Canada/United States border in 2022 and other related charges, they added.
As a condition of his release, the suspect is required to wear an ankle monitor — but the monitor was removed on Monday, March 3 and discarded along Highway 417 near Thunder Road.
According to OPS, Rezaei may have travelled to the Greater Toronto Area, Montreal, Cornwall, Akwesasne, or could have attempted to enter the United States.
Rezaei may be travelling in a black 2020 Land Rover Range Rover with an Ontario License plate, noted OPS.
He has also been associated with a white 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus with an unknown license plate, they wrote.
It is believed that Rezaei has access to firearms, and police consider him armed and dangerous.
If the suspect is seen, OPS is asking the public to call 911 immediately.
Those with information on the whereabouts of Rezaei are asked to contact the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad (ROPE) at 416-808-5900 or 1-866-870-ROPE (7673).
Alternatively, contact the Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit at 613-236-1222 extension 5050.
