U.S. driver hits vehicle in CT Centre parking lot; impaired charges laid

A driver is facing impaired charges after hitting another vehicle in the parking lot of the Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday afternoon.

Ottawa police said that the U.S. driver made a “costly mistake” for choosing to drive impaired instead of finding another way to get to his hotel a “five-minute walk away.”

The accused faces impaired driving charges, his licence has been suspended for 90 days and the truck impounded for seven days.

“Make the right choice—plan ahead. Drive sober,” officials said.

This happened after the Ottawa Senators beat the New York Rangers 4-3 in an important overtime win.
