Calgary to Ottawa WestJet flight cancelled due to security concerns

By Michael Ranger

A WestJet flight departing Calgary was cancelled on Wednesday due to a security issue.

The airline confirms that flight WS610 departing the Calgary International Airport for Ottawa was delayed for an ongoing security threat.

The flight was originally scheduled to depart at 10:45 a.m. and has since been cancelled. WestJet says they are working with airport officials and other agencies to “resolve the matter,” and will reach out to guests when more information is available.

RCMP confirmed they are working with Calgary police to investigate a security threat. The Calgary Airport Authority also confirmed a security incident and say they are working with police to support their investigation.

“While the investigation is ongoing, there is no active threat and airport operations remain steady with minimal impact to travellers,” reads an update from the airport authority.
