A man has been charged with public mischief after previously alleging that he had been abducted at gunpoint.
On March 17, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the OPP responded to a report of a delivery driver held at gunpoint in South Algonquin Township.
The driver allegedly told police they had encountered a female and a male, armed with a handgun, in Brundell-Lyndoch-Raglan Township earlier that afternoon. He said the two individuals accompanied him in the van along a number of roads before stopping and fleeing on foot.
OPP say the Canine unit was called-in but was unsuccessful in locating any trace of the individuals. Following an in-depth investigation, OPP determined the claims to be false.
Jean-Luc Thibeau, 30, is now facing the charge of public mischief.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 7.
