OPP lay charges in intimate partner violence case

A 36-year-old man has been charged in connection to an intimate partner violence investigation.

Lanark County OPP officers investigated incidents reported in Carleton Place between March 7 and June 12.

As a result, the accused has been charged with forcible confinement, uttering threats, and mischief under $5,000.

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim. He was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Perth today.

The OPP are reminding anyone who is experiencing IPV, or knowns someone who is a victim, to call 9-1-1.
