A driver is facing hefty fines after she did not move over for emergency vehicles on an Ottawa highway.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a broken-down vehicle just before 6:00 a.m. near Terry Fox Drive along Highway 417 on Thursday. While helping the driver of that vehicle, police parked their cruiser on the side of the road.
Just as one officer was opening the door of the cruiser, another with a body-worn camera can be seen motioning with his flashlight to the driver coming down the stretch of highway in the lane beside the cruiser.
The video shows the vehicle flying by the officers. Police later said they issued the G1 driver with over $700 in tickets.
The accused faces a $490 fine for failing to move over and two G1 violation tickets at $110 each. Her vehicle was towed from the highway since she cannot drive along on a 400-series highway on a G1.
