87-year-old pushed to the ground after alleged driving incident

An older adult suffered injuries after a person pushed him to the ground in a parking lot along Richmond Road.

According to police, the incident happened on July 29 around 3:30 p.m. The victim was leaving his vehicle in a parking lot in the 3000 block of Richmond Road in the Farfields Heights community.

Officers said in a press release, an unknown man approached the older man from behind, swearing and yelling that the victim had cut him off while driving.

“The suspect then assaulted the victim by pushing him to the ground,” police said.

By the time the victim was able to get in his vehicle the suspect had left. The 87-year-old had non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials are looking for the man behind the assault, saying at the time of the incident, he was driving a dark coloured vehicle.

The path the victim took includes:

  • Exiting the 417 westbound offramp at Woodroffe Avenue
  • Turning left onto Carling Avenue
  • Left onto Pinecrest Road, with a quick lane change to get to the westbound lanes on Richmond Road
  • Right onto Richmond Road
  • Left on Bellfield Street
  • Finally, a right turn into the parking lot in the 3000 block of Richmond Road

Police are hoping someone will have dashcam footage of the two people in question.
