Two transports, SUV and truck collide killing two from Ottawa

Two people from the nation’s capital were killed, and four others were injured, in a serious multi-vehicle collision Friday morning just west of Perth, Ont.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said that just after 3:00 a.m. on Aug. 22, two transport trucks and an SUV were travelling east towards Ottawa on Highway 7. At the same time, a pick-up truck was travelling in the opposite direction when all four collided.
In the aftermath of the serious crash, a 59-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man, both from Ottawa and travelling in the SUV, were killed.
Two more people, both adults, were sent to a regional trauma centre by Air Ornge in critical condition. Another person was taken to a hospital in Ottawa, and the last person was sent to a local hospital, both with minor injuries.
Lanark County OPP, Lanark County Paramedic Services and Drummond-North Elmsley-Tay Valley Fire Rescue responded.
OPP closed the highway for almost 12 hours from County Road 36 to Highway 511 near Perth.

This is the second serious vehicle crash to happen on Highway 7 in the last few days.
On Aug. 20, police responded to a collision in Perth at Drummond Street West and the highway to find an off-duty paramedic and bystanders providing first aid to a motorcyclist.
Paramedics responding brought the 53-year-old man from Beckwith to a local hospital before transferring him to a trauma centre.
