Kingston fair closed early following bear spray attack, other arrests

The Kingston Fall Fair was shut down early Saturday night after multiple incidents that required police intervention.

Officers were called to the Memorial Fair Grounds shortly after 10 p.m. after it was reported that bear spray was deployed.

On-scene officers located two victims who had been sprayed with bear spray. They were treated for minor injuries.

Officers say there was a lack of witnesses and video surveillance, which left them unable to identify a suspect.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Two other incidents led to arrests, which police say were unrelated to the bear spray attack.

A 15-year-old individual was arrested for weapons offences and breach of release conditions. A 17-year-old was arrested for breach of release conditions in another incident. Both individuals were held in custody for a bail hearing.

As a result of the incidents, the fair shut down around 10:30 p.m.
