Driver charged after Stittsville crash left cyclist with life-altering injuries

A driver who collided with a cyclist in a quiet Stittsville community was charged by Ottawa police.
In a press release, officials said they laid offences against Daniel Hoffmann, 47, for dangerous operation cause bodily harm, along with other Highway Traffic Act offences.
The incident happened July 22 just before 5:00 p.m. Emergency responders were called to the intersection of Harry Douglas and Sweetnam drives after a report a vehicle and cyclist collided.
A person in their 30s was biking when they were struck. They sustained critical injuries that were life-altering. The driver was uninjured, the press release reads.
“Collisions have lasting impacts on everyone involved. Please take extra care on our roads to help keep all users safe,” police said.
