Crash notification to police leads to extrication of driver

Ottawa police were called by a technology notification that a vehicle had crashed just outside of Cumberland.

According to a release from Ottawa fire, it said police got a report from an Apple Car Crash notification, a detection feature that automatically calls emergency services if it detects a severe collision. Officers responded to Old Montreal and Quigley Hill roads and called firefighters.

Fire crews got to the scene shortly after 9:45 p.m. and found a vehicle on its side in the ditch. The driver was stuck and the extrication process was started. By 10:03 p.m. the person was removed from the vehicle after firefighters used specialized tools to cut them out.

Fire crews stabilized the vehicle before removing the driver. (OFS)
