Police respond to bank robbery in Old Ottawa East

There is no threat to the public after police officers worked to contain a robbery at a financial institution on Tuesday morning.

Officials first reported a heavy police presence in the 1-100 block of Main Street in the Old Ottawa East community around 9:49 a.m. A few hours later, police said the operation ended.

Giving a few more details, officers said the incident involved a financial institution; a Scotiabank on that stretch of road fits the description.

“There was a significant police presence as officers worked to contain the situation,” the release reads.

Ottawa police told CityNews in an email that no charges have been laid.

There were no injuries to officers on scene, the release notes.

The investigation is ongoing.
