Drugs, burglary tools seized after stolen car detected by OPP

Police got a notification of a stolen vehicle earlier this month that led to a lengthy list of charges against two people.

According to a press release, officers from the Hawkesbury detachment of provincial police were conducting routine traffic enforcement on County Road 17 in early October. It was around 11:00 p.m. when the automated licence plate recognition system detected a stolen vehicle.

Police stopped the vehicle without incident and placed the two individuals in the car under arrest. Officers searched the vehicle and found suspected crystal methamphetamine and weapons, and a package of stolen licence plates.

As a result, Alexander Cook, 30, of Kingston is facing charges of:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Theft of a vehicle
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of break-in tools
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Driving with cannabis readily available
  • Failing to properly wear a seatbelt
  • Using a plate not authorized for a vehicle
  • Driving a vehicle with a speed measuring warning device
  • Failing to comply with a probation order

He was released from custody and is expected in court in November.

The second person, Kameisha Marsden, 29, of Kingston is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Theft of a vehicle
  • Possession of break-in tools
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Failing to properly wear a seatbelt

This accused remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled in November.
