Ottawa police are releasing more details of an investigation after a young man was found dead outside a home in an east-end community.
Officials said that Joshua Qiyuk, 21, was found with stab wounds on Oct. 22 in Ottawa’s Manor Park neighbourhood. Police and paramedics were called to Meadow Park Place, just off St. Laurent Boulevard, around 8:15 a.m.
They found Qiyuk outside a house and the death was being treated as “criminally suspicious.” Now police have ruled his death was in fact a homicide.
They are asking anyone with information to contact them. Police are also urging people to come forward if they have dashcam footage from Aviation Pathway in between Hemlock Road and Montreal Road between 7:00 p.m. Oct. 21 and 7:00 a.m. Oct. 22.
The Homicide Unit can be reached at 613-236-1222, at extension 5493.
Qiyuk is the eighth stabbing-related death in Ottawa this year, and the second in October.
He is the nation’s capital’s 16th homicide, just after Justin James Weir, 55, was stabbed to death on Oct. 2 along St. Laurent Boulevard.
