Idaho man faces stunt driving charge in southeastern Ontario

An American man is facing a stunt driving charge after travelling 48 km/h over the speed limit on Highway 401.

An officer with Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement eastbound lanes of the highway in South Dundas Township on Sunday night when he clocked a vehicle going 158 km/h in a posted 110 km/h zone.

Police determined the driver was from Idaho. He was charged with stunt driving and his rental vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The driver’s licence was also suspended in the province of Ontario for 30 days.

Police say the driver was on his way to Quebec.
