Trafficking charges laid after police notice suspect vehicle in Overbrook

Officers with Ottawa police were conducting proactive patrols on Nov. 4 when they noticed a suspicious vehicle parked.
According to the press release from officials, police were in the 200 block of Donald Street earlier this week, around 1:00 p.m. They were with members of the Vanier/Overbrook Neighbourhood Resource Team when they saw the vehicle and went up to it to speak with the occupants.
During the interaction, police searched the vehicle under the Cannabis Act. They found a “considerable” amount of controlled substances, officers said, including fentanyl, cocaine, hydromorphone pills, and crystal methamphetamine.
As a result, two people were charged.
A 27-year-old man is facing offences of trafficking a controlled substance (4x) and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The 25-year-old man is facing several more charges including:
- Trafficking in controlled substance ×3
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Fail to comply with a release order
- Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000
- Transporting cannabis unlawfully under the Cannabis Control Act
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, the release reads, with the Street Crime Unit leading the charge.
