Man holds up sign demanding cash in downtown bank robbery

A suspect is still at large after a bank robbery in downtown Ottawa late last month.

Ottawa police said they are hoping to identify a person in connection with a robbery that happened at a financial institution in the 200 block of Laurier Avenue West. The only building fitting that description is a BMO bank.

It happened on Oct. 28 at around 11:00 a.m. A man entered the building and gave the employee a sign saying that it was a bank robbery and demanded money.

The employee complied, and the suspect fled on a bicycle. Police said there were no injuries from the incident.

The person officers are looking for is described as white, with a slim build. At the time of the incident, he wore a green plaid coat, black pants, a baseball cap and a white medical mask.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116.
