Online dating meet-up ends in assault as police look for suspect

Officers are investigating after an online dating meet-up gone wrong resulted in a person being injured.
According to a press release from Ottawa police, the incident took place on Nov. 21 around 2:45 p.m. The assault happened within the 0-100 block of Burnside Avenue.
In the situation, two people arranged a meeting at a residence in the Mechanicsville community through an online dating website. In the altercation, police said a victim was injured during an assault.
The suspect is described as Black, about 6’0″ to 6’3″ and in his early to mid-20s. At the time, the suspect was seen wearing a black winter coat with a beige fur trim on the hood, a light coloured medical mask, dark pants and white sneakers.
