1 charged, 3 in hospital following serious single-vehicle crash

A 19-year-old is facing several charges, including impaired driving, following a single-vehicle crash that left three in hospital with serious injuries.
OPP say seven people were in the car when it crashed into a rock cut off White Water Road near Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township.
First responders were called to the scene around 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
Four people, including the driver, were transported to hospital by paramedics. Air Ornge later transferred two of the passengers to a regional trauma centre due to the extent of their injuries. The remaining three passengers did not sustain any injuries. Police say the passengers all ranged in age from 16 to 21.
Police say the driver was assessed at the hospital before being taken to the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment.
The driver, identified as 19-year-old Jacob Normandeau from Pembroke, has now been charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
- Three counts of impaired operation causing bodily harm;
- Three counts of careless driving causing bodily harm;
- Three counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm; and
- Driving while under suspension.
Normandeau was released from custody pending an upcoming court appearance.
White Water Road was closed for an investigation but reopened around 10:30 a.m.
