Child, OPP officer among those injured in head-on collision

Four people, including one child and one OPP officer, are in hospital with serious injuries following a head-on collision east of Perth.

OPP say an officer was in a marked vehicle on patrol when it was struck by an oncoming pick-up truck on Highway 7. It happened on Dec. 13 around 4:30 p.m. between Drummond School Road and Drummond Concession 7.

Responders say three people from the truck were taken to hospital. A child was airlifted to a regional trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. Two others were transported to hospital by paramedics with serious injuries.

The OPP officer was also taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Lanark County OPP is investigation with assistance from Collision Reconstructionists and Technical Collision Investigators from the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team.
