Ottawa teacher charged in child sexual abuse investigation

A male teacher has been arrested and charged following an investigation into child sexual abuse and exploitation.
Ottawa Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Ottawa’s east end on Jan. 8.
Following the search, police arrested and charged 39-year-old Stephen Patrick Ruth with distribution and possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material offences.
Police say Ruth uses the online usernames STEVERUTH, mrruthio, and mrsruthio86.
The investigation remains ongoing.
