While temperatures remain above average, Ottawa is in the path of another blast of winter.
A special weather statement is in effect for Ottawa and the surrounding area. It was issued by Environment Canada shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday.
Snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm are expected in the city with up to 20 cm anticipated in the Valley and near the Quebec border.
That snow is expected to come quick. Peak snowfall rates could reach two to four centimetres per hour, tapering off overnight.
The weather authority says roads and walkways may become difficult to navigate and to allow extra time for travel.
Flurries and mixed precipitation are forecasted to continue throughout the week across the region with above seasonal temperatures.
Temperatures are expected to drop overnight Wednesday with a Thursday high of -11 C.
