Excavator falls off transport truck on Hwy. 417

The driver of a transport truck has been charged after an excavator fell off its truck bed.

Ottawa OPP say it happened on Jan. 28 on westbound Highway 417 near Moodie Drive.

Two lanes of traffic were blocked and delays were heavy as police responded to the situation.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the transport was charged with driving a commercial motor vehicle with a major defect in it or in a drawn vehicle, and insecure load on a commercial motor vehicle.

Each of these charges brings with it a $390 fine.
