Ottawa police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a serious collision just east of the downtown core.
According to a press release, emergency responders were sent to the 600 block of Rideau Street around 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday. There, they found an incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Paramedics said that they stabilized a woman with “very serious injuries” who was brought to hospital.
Officials are asking people who witnessed the crash or who have dashcam footage to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Collision Investigation Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 2345.
In 2025, there were 218 crashes involving pedestrians, of the 19,777 collisions recorded in the nation’s capital. The majority of collisions happened in December and January, and 18 of them were fatal, data from the Collision Reporting Centre reads.
“The data also shows that 16,787 collisions occurred on clear days, while environmental events making road conditions less favourable, such as rain, fog, mist, freezing rain and snow, were noted for less than 5,000 collisions,” it notes.
