Woman dead after two-vehicle, head-on crash near Richmond

Ottawa police are investigating after a woman was killed in a serious collision along a rural roadway last week.

According to officials, the crash happened in the 6000 block of Franktown Road, between Munster and Richmond. The two vehicles involved collided around 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 6.

Ottawa firefighters were called to the head-on crash to extricate a woman. They used specialized hydraulic tools to remove the side door of a small passenger vehicle, they told CityNews. As soon as she was extricated, emergency responders started CPR before paramedics took over.

As a result, a 63-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver was taken to hospital in stable condition. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, firefighters said of the scene.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or knows anything about the incident to reach out.
