Fleeing scene of collision results in charges for Pembroke resident

A 33-year-old Pembroke resident is facing numerous charges after failing to remain at the scene of a collision.

Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the evening of Feb. 8. Callers reported that one vehicle had left the scene.

Police later located the vehicle and the driver in a parking lot at the Pembroke Marina. The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the detachment.

Krystle Chartrand has been charged with several Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor License and Control Act charges. They include:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with a demand;
  • Theft of motor vehicle;
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor;
  • Driving while under suspension; and
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt.

The accused had their driver’s license suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed. They are scheduled to appear in court on March 3.
