Impaired driving charges laid after car ends up in ditch

A resident of the Town of Deep River is facing impaired driving charges after driving their vehicle into the ditch.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP received reports of a single vehicle in the ditch on Highway 17 in the Town of Laurentian Hills on Feb. 7.

When police arrived, they administered a roadside screening device and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result, 35-year-old Sheehan Laroche has been charged with the following Criminal Code and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol;
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus; and
  • Operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

The accused had their license suspended for 90 days. The vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

The accused was released from custody pending a court appearance on March 3.
