Aliases ‘Z’ and ‘Zo’ used by human trafficking suspect as police look for victims

Several charges were laid against a 34-year-old man from Ottawa in a human trafficking investigation, with officials looking for more victims.

Christopher Exume is facing offences of trafficking in persons, procuring, advertising another person for sexual services, sexual assault and sexual interference.

He is in custody, a press release notes.

Police said they launched the case in November that involved a female victim, where offences took place between May 2022 and February 2026. Officers believe there are more victims of human trafficking.

They say that victims might not know the legal name of the accused since Exume used the aliases of “Z” and “Zo.” Police also released a photo of the suspect because they hope it will help bring more people forward.

“The Human Trafficking Unit will respect victims’ wishes whether to pursue criminal charges, and regardless, can offer resources to support survivors of human trafficking,” officials detail.

Anyone with information regarding incidents involving this individual is asked to call the OPS Human Trafficking Unit tipline at 613-236-1222 ext. 5625 or email mcm@ottawapolice.ca.

This is not the first time Exume has been charged by Ottawa police. In 2020, he was arrested alongside two other men for transporting guns, one of which was loaded, and drugs through a traffic stop in downtown.
