Pair of young drivers caught speeding 170 and 156 km/h

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped two young drivers on Sunday night for speeding well above the limit of Highway 417.

Officials said a 21-year-old woman is facing charges of stunt driving and careless driving after police said they caught the vehicle travelling 170 km/h. Both offences are under the Highway Traffic Act.

The same night, police stopped a male G2 driver going 156 km/h, well over the 100 km/h limit.

The 17-year-old was charged with speeding, fail to surrender licence, fail to surrender permit and fail to surrender insurance.

Both drivers had their vehicles seized and have a month-long driving suspension. They face a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction.
