Two men facing reckless discharge of gun, after shots near Mooney’s Bay

Officers were called to a portion of the city near Mooney’s Bay for a report of gunfire in early April.

It happened around 2:28 p.m. in the 2800 block of Riverside Drive. While on scene, police determined that a gun had been discharged. Through the investigation, which spanned April 2 and 3, officers tracked down and arrested two people and arrested them in connection with the incident.

The two men, aged 27 and 30, are facing charges of:

  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Reckless discharge of a firearm
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a valid licence and registration
  • Possession of a loaded firearm

Police are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact them at 613-236-1222, ext. 5050.

This comes just after Ottawa’s force, with Ontario Provincial Police, seized multiple guns from a 23-year-old in the city’s south end.

In a statement, officials said they laid multiple charges after finding and taking a 12-gauge double-barreled sawed-off shotgun, a 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition and a cell phone.

The accused is expected in court again on April 23 to face the offences.
