In only a few days, Ottawa police officers have laid several stunt driving charges for people going at least 50 km/h over the limit.
In a social media post, police said: “nothing says ‘complete disregard for safety’ like doing FIFTY-TWO kms OVER.”
It was in reference to a stunt driving charge police laid on St. Joseph Boulevard near Taylor Creek Drive in Orléans.
This comes days after police laid three separate stunt driving charges against three young people in Barrhaven.
Officers were out patrolling in the south end community on Friday along Strandherd Drive, a main throughway in the community that has a speed limit of 70 km/h.
One of the accused, a 21-year-old, was stopped after police clocked the vehicle travelling 126 km/h.
Another 21-year-old is facing their second stunt driving charge in five years after police caught them travelling 117 km/h down the road.

The final young person, a 20-year-old, was caught travelling 121 km/h, officers said.
All face immediate licence suspensions, a vehicle impound, and a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction.
People being caught twice or more for stunting
Ottawa police are noticing more than a dozen people who have been caught twice or more driving at dangerous speeds in the city.
Statistics shared to CityNews from Ottawa Police Service’s (OPS) traffic enforcement unit show that since January 2023, there have been 21 people charged twice or more with stunt driving — generally categorized as 50 km/h over the speed limit.
