Lots of roads blocked on Sunday for CN Cycle for CHEO

Veteran broadcaster and compassionate community champion Sam Laprade sheds light on Ottawa's most impactful charities and non-profit organizations and their amazing work. Featured this week: CN Cycle for CHEO.

An annual fundraiser, which has given thousands to cancer research, is back in the nation’s capital on May 3.

It means that driving anywhere near downtown Ottawa might need extra planning this weekend. Between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. several major roads will be closed or have lane reductions as a result of the CN Cycle for CHEO event.

Bikers will start and end at the Canadian War Museum and will cycle through downtown neighbourhoods and roadways, raising money for childhood and adolescent oncology care at the children’s hospital.

These are the roads expected to be impacted:

  • Kichi Zībī Mīkan
  • Island Park Drive
  • Champlain Bridge
  • Booth Street
  • Wellington Street
  • Portage Bridge
  • Elgin Street
  • Laurier Avenue
  • Queen Elizabeth Driveway
  • Prince of Wales Drive
  • Heron Road
  • Vincent Massey Park
  • Riverside Drive
  • Hogs Back Road
  • Colonel By Drive
  • Sussex Drive
  • Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway
