A large commercial building was the scene of a two-alarm fire in Alta Vista, where callers reported an “orange glow” coming from the structure.
Officials were called at 11:16 p.m. to the 1600 block of Michael Street, finding a large building ablaze. Multiple 911 callers said that smoke was coming from the building and the flames were glowing from within.
When firefighters arrived, they confirmed heavy smoke and declared a working fire. More resources were needed to battle the blaze. A fast attack was launched on the building, bringing a hose inside. A second alarm was called at 11:23 p.m., with more resources needed.
Crews had to be mindful of the hazards on the outside of the building, like oil drums and the roof starting to sag.
The fire was under control by 1:44 a.m.
An investigator was brought to the scene to determine what started the fire.
