Ottawa woman charged with first-degree murder a year after body found in river

A second arrest has been made in connection with a homicide investigation after a body was pulled from the Ottawa River near Clarence-Rockland last year.
Jessica St. Michael, of Ottawa, was arrested on Thursday, the second arrest in connection with the case. The 37-year-old was arrested with the assistance of the Gatineau Police Service and is charged with first-degree murder and indignity to a body.
Last week, Ontario Provincial Police arrested Luc Décarie of St-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Que., who is charged with first-degree murder and indignity to a body.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 17, 2025, officers responded to reports of a body located in the water offshore from the Dallaire Street area. A postmortem led police to identify the remains of Prevost and launch a probe into his death.
According to police, the person is identified as Robert Prevost, 63, who was reported missing in early March of last year, but had not been seen since early February. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
