Flames melt outside of neighbouring home in Orléans two-alarm fire

Flames shooting through the roof of a two-storey home in Ottawa’s east end prompted more resources to the scene.
According to a media release from firefighters, they were called to the 6000 block of Castle Pines Way in the community of Chapel Hill South at around 4:46 p.m.
Multiple 911 callers reported that flames were coming from the roof of the home and the heat was melting the siding of a neighbouring house. When they arrived, they did see the fire, but also how quickly the flames had reached the other homes in the area.
This prompted a second alarm, bringing more resources to the area.
One team of firefighters began searching the building for people and found no one inside, while teams from the outside doused the flames. In the incident, one crew member sustained a minor injury.
By 6:42 p.m., the fire was under control, and an Ottawa investigator was dispatched to the scene.
