Firefighters arrive to find Stittsville home engulfed in flames

Multiple 911 callers reported flames coming from the roof of a Sttitsville home on Thursday evening, bringing crews to the house within minutes.
According to a press release, the single-family home is in the 6000 block of Fernbank Road in the city’s west end. Crews first got the call at 6:44 p.m. and quickly arrived at the scene to see flames had spread across the roof of a garage and to the home.
People in the house evacuated and were all safe by the time officials arrived. More resources were brought to the scene while a team started spraying water on the burning building.
Two searches were done and the fire was under control by 8:17 p.m.
Victim services were brought to the scene to help the family who lived there. An investigator is also looking into what happened.
